The 2017 Pony Express Event was the longest Raptor Offroad Community event as of yet.  This three day epic run covered two states and approximately 850 miles, placing participants in the middle of the vast, open desert. Everyone made it to the end of the run and it proved to be one epic journey.

For the first time, the Raptor Offroad Community headed to Southern California to explore the region near Salton Sea and Ocotillo Wells. This proved to be a worth while adventure, providing lots of excitement.

For the first Raptor Offroad Community (ROC) outing of 2017, we headed north of Reno, NV to explore the Black Rock Desert.  The winter storms definitely took their toll on the desert trails, which made for some serious washouts to traverse and lots of mud puddles.

When you hear about a trip to Area 51, most of us imagine that strange and abnormal things will happen during the trip. Well, this expedition was certainly one of those tales. Saturday morning the group met to go over the day’s activities, the usual safety brief and reminders about “taking it easy.” The morning was cold and overcast, which was nice, as it was 98 degrees on the drive in the day before.

The Silver State Adventure is now in the books. Twenty-two trucks covered 560 miles from Reno to Las Vegas, 524.2 miles of which was on the dirt. We had hoped to only drive 21 miles of pavement, but we ran out of time day two. Unlike some of our other runs/trips, we had to push the group to keep moving at times because we had to cover a lot of ground before we lost daylight (not everyone had aux lights because they were not a requirement for this trip).

The Lost Coast Expedition was a fun, off the beaten path trip on the Northern California Coast. Before we do the recap, the participants and the ROC Team would like to thank all the fire fighters out there working hard and risking their lives to fight the numerous wild fires engulfing Northern CA. While we were resting up for a fun filled day in the dirt, a number of fire fighters (about 3/4 of our hotel) were resting up before heading back out to contain the many fires in the area.
